Jewellery has been worn for centuries as a means to enhance appearance as well as show ones status. From crude jewellery made from the likes of wood and plants to quality made pieces using precious metals and gemstones to suit royalty, jewellery has been a good way to accessorise for thousands of years.

Luckily, in the modern age, we have a wide range of styles to choose from! So today, we've compiled a few tips on selecting jewellery that will complement your particular features and body types! As you know, we've already touched on how to enhance your features with earrings, so this blog will touch base on how to accessorize with necklaces, bracelets and rings-- Enjoy! Necklaces Much like clothing, necklaces can help make you appear either taller or shorter. If you are shorter and want to give the perception of height, then choose necklaces that are longer. Necklaces that are V-shaped or Y-shaped can elongate your appearance. Pick necklaces that go below your collarbone, but not pass your waist. These shapes and lengths will stretch your torso and make you appear taller. For those who are tall and wish to take attention away from your height, choose necklaces that are shorter and rest closer to your collarbone. Choker necklaces can also work to make you look shorter.

When choosing necklaces, you also want to think about the volume or chunkiness of the necklace. A full figure would suit a necklace that has a little bit of volume-- try large chunky stones or a thick chain. If you are petite however, larger jewellery may swamp you figure and therefore you may want to choose something a little more delicate.

Bracelets and Rings A lot of times when you talk or are just sitting around, your hands are up near your face therefore, choose bracelets and rings so that the compliment the skin tone in your face as well as your hands (as they can be slightly different in tone). You need to consider also your skin tone and slenderness of your hands and wrists and when choosing bracelets. If you are petite, then large chunky bracelets might look awkward on you, so delicate thin bracelets might be the way to go. On the other hand, if you have a thicker stature or even medium-sized you might look best with a wide bracelet or a stack of smaller bracelets.

When choosing rings, you need to think about the shape of your fingers, e.g. are they long and slender or shorter and slightly thicker? If your fingers are shorter, then you will most like want to choose smaller, more delicate rings, in order not to over-emphasize their small stature. Rings with an oval setting tend to look best, as they (like long necklaces) lengthen the finger. If you have long fingers then round settings and wide band's will probably look best on you.
